Children are amongst the worst-affected groups by malnutrition in Pakistan. The World Health Organization has recognized that improved nutrition is highly crucial in reducing infant mortality particularly in the developing countries.
In Asia the percentage of malnourished children is highest around the globe with 70% undernourished children being in Pakistan alone. In Pakistan, 33% of the children below the age of are underweight, 53% are stunted and 12% wasting which is a clear indication that the nutritional status of the country is poor. A recent report it was noted that malnutrition caused 54% deaths in children living in Pakistan.
Help A Child Project recognises this serious concern and has made endeavours to aid the children and their families in need. Daily food items needed for cooking were made into packages sufficient for a monthly supply of a family of four individuals. These packages were distributed to more than 100 families on a monthly basis for a year. The endeavour aimed at providing the basic food items to children to help them in their growth and development.
